Vamos A Bailar

Artist. Shit that tickles my fancy.

You’ll never advance

I received the best advice today from my homeboy for tattooing, who happens to be a tattoo artist himself.  We had a short conversation about tattooing people in the “hood” as opposed to tattooing people who’s willing to pay the price and let you take your time.  And how much it hurts our pockets and takes the fun out of something we love. How we charge these dirt cheep prices and niggaz still complain.  How they still want even cheaper prices and have the nerve to rush you sometimes.  Anyway, afterward he pretty much handed down a bit of advice he got from another artist he used to work with.  He said he would always tell him he could never get as good as him etc.  He says he boy told him, “You can do everything that I can do, but if you don’t treat every line like it’s the most important and take time on every little piece of the tattoo, then you’ve never tried your best and you’ll never advance”.

This is hands down the realist shit I’ve ever heard or been told.  I’ve never even been given the chance to take my time on a tattoo unless it was a free tattoo I was doing on my homeboy.  This advance just motivated the shit out of me, because everyday I’m always ready to quit.  I’m not going let these niggaz ruin something that I love anymore.  Fuck that shit.  You don’t like my prices, fuck you go somewhere else.  You want to rush me, fuck you I’m taking even longer now or you can leave with a half finished tattoo and fuck off!
